The Diploma in Human Resources Management program is offered online, using a combination of Adobe Connect’s webinar technology and Google Apps for Higher Education. The result is a fully interactive, virtual classroom experience where the instructor and the students collaborate online in an active learning environment. You will be able to connect with your instructor and your peers, participate in online discussions using forums, chat rooms and document comments, and can actively contribute through forums and presentations.
The full Human Resources program extends over a nine-month period and comprises six courses, each lasting for six weeks. Students will be required to attend at least two 90-minute webinars each week.
Webinars take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5.00pm – 6.30pm (PST).
To receive credit for each course, the student must achieve a final grade of at least 65 per cent.

DHRM 01-Professional Practice in Human Resources
Introduces the importance of professional practice within human resources in the context of the industry’s growing professionalism. Topics include: strategic contributions to an organization’s business plan and overall success; human resources functional dimensions as defined by the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA) and their Required Professional Capabilities (RPCs©).
DHRM 02-Organizational Effectiveness
Applies the principles of lean management, change management and strategic HR to assess the effectiveness of an organization’s processes, and then recommend interventions that will improve said processes and build the organization’s capacity to achieve and sustain a desired capability and behaviours. Other topics covered are an overview of the principles of project management; accounting and finance principles; business economics; design and implementation of HR initiatives.
DHRM 03-Total Rewards
Learn to identify the elements of a systematic framework for designing an optimal reward system for encouraging desirable behaviours. Also, examine the strategic and behavioural framework for compensation, critical elements of rewards strategy, compensation values, performance pay and indirect pay.
DHRM 04-Employee and Labour Relations
Learn the best practices in union and non-union relations, effective grievance management and dispute resolution processes including mediation and arbitration. Highlights include controversies and issues related to the structure and function of today’s industrial relations system; the practical- and process- oriented sides of labour relations; overviews of laws, regulations and guidelines for the HR professional; occupational health and safety with reference to HR functions; Workers’ Compensation and disability management; types of hazards, control procedures; and case studies.
DHRM 05-Organizational Learning, Development and Training
Learn the importance of organizational learning, development, and training in regards to developing clear job and organizational expectations, improving job performance and reducing employee anxiety. Reflecting on science and practice, you will be provided a comprehensive study on the fields of training and development, as well as explore major trends in training, the changing role of trainers, outsourcing, the aging workforce and e-learning.
Learn the evolving best practices in the fields of recruitment and selection, while being provided specific examples that modify best practices because of different organizational or environmental contexts. To complement staffing and the other HR functional dimensions, you will be introduced to the principles and common practices associated with human resources information systems (HRIS).
