Certificate in Human Resources

Overview

The Ashton College Certificate in Human Resources is a comprehensive program of studies that can help students work towards a more promising career in Human Resources.

With this program, learners discover the basics of how organizations work. They will also be able to identify the practical aspects of compensations and benefits, employment legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, plus recruitment and selection.

By applying the principles of adult learning, the Certificate in Human Resources program presents course materials in an interactive format that encourages participants to ask questions, learn from others’ experiences and apply personal effort in managing their own learning style. Team projects run concurrent with instructional sessions and provide the learner with valuable practical business experience. These group projects are intended to mirror real-life work situations and consequently become a review of the learning that has occurred within the program. The teaching methods applied in the Certificate in Human Resources program are designed such that the student’s marks are not the focus – the focus is on knowledge acquisition.

This program also discusses the required employee capabilities necessary in the enabling and assistance functions of Human Resources. These will prepare you for the many tasks performed by an HR Assistant or HR Coordinator in modern business. The program material is taken from the best practices that have been developed across a range of industries, along with the list of Required Professional Capabilities® that are recognized by the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations.

This program is recommended for:

  • People who wish to extend their occasional HR duties and become trusted employees with a broad range of practical knowledge in a critical business function
  • Businesses that wish to arm their HR practitioners with a well-rounded understanding of the best practices in human resources administration
