Certificate in Accounting

Overview

The Certificate in Accounting program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Accounting without necessarily obtaining professional certification. It offers an understanding of basic and advanced accounting concepts combined with their practical application in a computerized business environment. The curriculum further provides the advantage of discussions on the new International Financial Reporting Standards required for public corporations. People seeking to advance their careers in accounting may benefit from this program.

Upon completion of this program, students may be eligible to transfer to the Certificate in Bookkeeping or Diploma in Accounting programs at Ashton College. Transferring students may be able to use some credits acquired on the Certificate in Accounting program towards the CGA Professional Program of Studies and the CMA Accelerated Program.

The Ashton College Certificate in Accounting program is recommended for:

  • Students who wish to work in an accounting position for small or medium-sized businesses
  • International students who want to obtain an education in Canadian and international accounting fundamentals and intermediate-level finance
  • Individuals who may have limited knowledge of, or experience in the business use of, accounting concepts
