PCTIA AccreditationAshton College is a private post-secondary institution fully registered and accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) of BC. Requirements for Accreditation by PCTIAA registered educational institution may apply for PCTIA accreditation after operating for one or more years. Applications for accreditation are forwarded to a Registration Officer. PCTIA will then conduct an on-site Registration Compliance visit. After successfully completing the visit, the institution prepares an Institutional Accreditation Report addressing: an overall purpose, goals and history, administration details (people and processes on how to effectively deliver programs), facilities, safety policies, program delivery methods, learning resources and specialized equipment. Furthermore, institutions are visited by an accreditation team. The team validates the institutional self-study and prepares a report according to standards required by legislation. Once accredited, an institution submits annual reports and a complete formal review for each program offered at least once a year. In addition, once every five years an accreditation team visits the accredited institution. New ProgramsBefore new programs can be offered or advertised, approval must be obtained from the Registrar; otherwise PCTIA may suspend or revoke accreditation status. InvestigationThe Registrar may have an accredited institution investigated. The Registrar may deny/ suspend/cancel its endorsement if the accreditation if the institution is not in the best interest of students or it has not met the legislative standards of quality.
