The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) is an old and venerable designation that was created in 1926 as a designation for insurance agents. Offered by the CLU Institute, the designation is built on top of the CFP and has come to mean that the holder is a senior specialist in financial planning.
Over the years, the curriculum of the CLU has expanded and is now integrated with CFP courses. The CLU designation tells consumers that the adviser has passed the CFP courses and has also mastered three specialised courses designed to deepen knowledge of wealth transfer and advanced estate planning.
Ashton College partners with the CLU Institute to offer all the CLU courses in a classroom setting. The CLU designation is then conferred by the CLU Institute.
