About Canada
A relatively young nation, Canada is a country in the Northern half of the North American continent. It is made up of 10 provinces and three territories. Canada is the world's second largest country by total area and has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Large portions of Canada 's population, nearly 90%, live within 200 kilometres of the Canadian and United States border. This means that there is a vast expanse of mountain ranges, beaches and lush forests to experience and explore.
Our rugged terrain isn't the only diverse thing about Canada. The diversity of faces composed by our more than 200 ethnic groups and more than 140 languages spoken on our streets, reflect a cultural, ethnic and linguistic variety not found anywhere else. Immigration has helped to make Canada a culturally rich, diverse and vibrant country. With over 200,000 immigrants moving to Canada annually, this diversity grows every year.
Canada also has one of the best education systems in the world, which makes it a popular destination for students from around the globe - reason enough to consider Canada the place to begin or continue your academic career.
