Another one bites the dust. Four year old Harmony Airways announced that it would cease operations as of April 9th, laying off 350 employees. Owner David Ho said that the move was prompted by increasing operating costs, overcapacity in the market and aggressive price competition from larger carriers.

Developed as a social networking web-site, facebook has become a phenomenon, particular amongst high school and college students.
Currently there are over 17 million members. Their traffic is only second to myspace. That’s a lot of people connecting with each other! Not a bad business idea either, created by two Harvard students, with last years revenue estimated at $50 million.

The coroner has released his report in the death of former Playboy model, Anna Nicole Smith. She died of an accidental drug overdose - “combined drug intoxication”. Nine different ones….. It’s all very sad for her baby daughter, born just a few days before her son Daniel’s tragic and untimely death.
The saga is not quite over yet, as the paternity battle continues. Will photographer Larry Birkhead ultimately prove that he is the biological father of the baby, or will lawyer/boyfriend Howard K. Stern continue his fancy legal maneuvers and drag this on for years to come? Lets not forget Virgie Arthur, Anna Nicole’s estranged mom. She would like custody of the baby too.
Did I forget to mention that the legal battles of the estate of Anna Nicole’s 93 year old late husband, billionaire, J. Howard Marshall are still not concluded? Now baby Dannielynn could stand to inherit over $400 million……

Have you noticed the beautiful spring blossoms that seemed to have appeared almost overnight?
It seemed to have been a long, miserable winter this year, but with spring definitely in the air, and those bare trees turning pink, we have so much to be greatful for. We live in a beautiful, albeit rainy city, with over 200 Starbucks stores in Greater Vancouver, and a Sushi place on every other block! What more could we want?
Oh yes…. to get rid of the Cambie construction!

Once again, American Idol topped the Nielsen ratings last week, with Tuesday & Wednesdays’ shows. I’m not and Idol fan and don’t enjoy Simon Cowell’s obnoxious manner. These were followed by Grey’s Anatomy, Deal or no Deal and Cold Case. Personally, I’m just waiting for Desperate Housewives to resume…..
